All you need to know about Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a healing discipline with its origins in the East.
REI
The word ‘Rei’ means ‘universal’ meaning that it is present everywhere, its more accurate definition is higher knowledge or spiritual consciousness.  KI
The work ‘Ki’ means ‘life energy’ or ‘vital life force’.  This is a subtle energy that animates all living things

History of Reiki, past and present

Reiki is an ancient form of healing, rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui of Kyoto, Japan towards the end of the 19th Century.
Dr. Usui had spent many years on a quest for the secret of the ancient healing knowledge.  He went to a mountaintop in Japan and underwent 21 day’s of purification, fasting and meditating at the end of which he received enlightenment and the power of healing.  He spent the rest of his life practising and teaching what we now call Reiki.
Dr. Usui passed his knowledge onto several others and made Mr. Chujiro Hayashi the responsibility of training all Reiki teachers.  Mr Hayashi took Reiki to Tibet and then to the USA in 1936 where he met one of his students, Mrs. Hawayo H Takata who went on in 1938 to become a Reiki teacher. Mr. Hayashi died on 10th May 1941 at the time of his death there were only 5 living Reiki teachers. Mrs Takata. went onto and granted another 22 teachers before her death on the 12th of December 1980.
My personal Reiki line starts from this root. After Mrs Takata came Paula Horn in the USA, Mrs Shepan in Germany, Mrs Ruth Hegetschweiler, Mr. Markus Etzensberger both in Switzerland and then myself Brenton.
Reiki is not involved with religion or dogma,
People of all walks of life and spiritual backgrounds appreciate its loving simplicity and benefit from Reiki’s healing power.
Reiki has gone on from strength to strength and is now being practised all over the world.

How does it work?

The Reiki therapist’s body serves to channel this energy through his or her hands, through time and space, to the recipient, activating the body's natural ability to heal itself.
Reiki energy goes to the deeper levels of a person’s being, where many illnesses have their origins. It works wherever the recipient needs it most, releasing blocked energies, cleansing the body of toxins, relieving stress, alleviating pain and working to recreate the natural stage of balance.
Reiki reinforces the patients ability to take responsibility for their life, also helps them to make the necessary changes in attitude and lifestyle to promote a happier and healthier life.

What can Reiki treat?

Reiki is beneficial in most cases of  stress, tension,  sinusitis,  menstrual problems, cystitis,  migraines,  asthma,  psoriasis,  M.E., constipation,  eczema,  arthritis,  menopausal problems,  back pain,  anxiety ,  depression insomnia &  sciatica, etc, etc… Chronic ailments also respond well.
Reiki is a great tonic and if you are well, Reiki will help you to stay that way.

What will you experience?
When undergoing treatment you will gradually feel a very pleasant sensation of warmth and maybe a gentle tingling in the area being treated.  As the energy comes into balance, stress and tension are released and in their place a deep sense of relaxation develops and a tremendous feeling of well-being is established.

Healing

"Your challenges have made you strong. Abusive souls have forced you to learn self love. The needy people in your life have helped you learn boundaries. The losses have taught you to appreciate what and who you have right now. In every challenge, there is a nugget of gold for the soul - a lesson, a gift, and a blessing waiting to be discovered. It takes courage to embrace such lessons. It takes fortitude, strength, and tenacity, and we guarantee that each and every one of you on this list has those very qualities, for each one of you is striving to dissolve the illusions that keep you coming to earth and to see the love beneath it all."~~~Ann and the Angels
